Fulminant myocarditis-associated expanded dengue syndrome in pregnant woman: a case report

Abstract Background Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease whose incidence has increased globally, with Indonesia as hyperendemic. In Indonesia, around 17.4% of febrile cases were due to dengue. Expanded dengue syndrome term for atypical manifestations in other organs such renal, respiratory, and cardiac. myocarditis remains underdiagnosed usually low risk heart failure. However, pregnancy increases the expanded syndrome, six times higher pregnant women. Due limited studies about treatment during pregnancy, it critical understand effects drugs importance choices selection fulminant myocarditis. Case presentation We reported case an adult woman her second trimester myocarditis-associated based on criteria. The patient suddenly worsened progressive cardiomegaly lung edema accompanied by cardiogenic shock. Multidisciplinary management been given improve cardiac function considering family consent. recovered from myocarditis, size reduced. Conclusions Fulminant serious complication aggressive therapy required prevent it. Further investigations multidisciplinary system are reduce or minimize fetal abnormalities.
